Ronald Ma is S.H. Ho Professor of Diabetes at the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Honorary Consultant Physician, Head of Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes (Academic Affairs). Dr Ma’s research focuses on the epidemiology and genetics of diabetes and its complications, gestational diabetes and precision medicine in diabetes. He has contributed to the identification of genetic factors for type 2 diabetes in Asians. He has also conducted long-term follow-up studies to examine the outcome of children born to mothers with GDM. He has published over 400 research articles and received the Xiaoren Pan Distinguished Research Award for Epidemiology of Diabetes in Asia from the Asian Association for the Study of Diabetes (AASD). Dr Ma has served on different committees for professional bodies including the International Diabetes Federation, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) Pregnancy and NCD Committee, and recently the American Diabetes Association Precision Medicine in Diabetes Initiative and the Lancet Commission on Diabetes.
