    Elisabeth Widén, M.D., Ph.D., is Vice Director and Principal Investigator at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland, University of Helsinki. Her research focuses on molecular medicine and genomics, with emphasis on women’s health and complex trait genetics, including gestational diabetes and female infertility. She leverages large-scale genomic and biobank data to uncover sex-specific disease mechanisms and advance precision prevention and therapy. Widén has led translational initiatives applying polygenic risk information to support prevention of ischemic heart disease and enable risk-based breast cancer screening.
