    Professor Saravanan (Sara) is a Professor of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism at University of Warwick, and George Eliot Hospital, UK. He serves as a Non-Executive Director on the Coventry and Warwickshire Mental Health Trust Board and the Editor-in-Chief of the Royal College of Physicians’ journal, Clinical Medicine. His research focuses on the mechanisms and ethnic variations in the «programming» of obesity and cardiometabolic disorders, with a particular emphasis on precision medicine. His work with a focus on improving the health of young women and their offspring, established MRC UK funded cohorts across the world: PRiDE (UK; n=4746), STRiDE (India; n=3070 and Kenya; n=4134), MAGIC (Malaysia; n=5200), and TaRGET (Thailand; n=4260). During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a key role by writing the new UK screening guidelines for GDM, which were widely implemented across the country. He is an NHS Innovation award winner for personalised diabetes care for South Asians.
